bandon orIncorporated in 1891, Bandon was named after George Bennett in remembrance of a town in Ireland. Bandon is a part of Coos County located on Oregon's southern beachfront coast. Bandon transitioned from having a timber based industry to a more developed and diverse economy. The thriving economy is supported by prosperous local industries including timber, tourism, small manufacturing, farming, agriculture, fishing, and small independent businesses. Bandon is known as the Cranberry Capital of Oregon, famous for Cranberry Salsa and Cranberry candy. The city is home to Bandon Dunes one of the most desired golf resort destinations in the United States. The beachfront and a local lake contribute to the extensive list of recreational opportunities. Bandon offers spectacular scenery in a warm and welcoming community of 3,235 people.

Bandon is the perfect place to live, work, and play. The Old Town shopping area contains shops, galleries and restaurants that are perfect for the whole family to enjoy. The Sprague Theatre serves as Bandon's cultural center where a variety of events are held to catch the attention of people of all ages.

At the Bandon City Park there is a baseball field, an up to date playground, covered picnic area, gazebo, and a community building for hosting activities.   A favorite spot to go crabbing or fishing is off of the Port High Dock.

 

Bandon has several breathtaking State Park beaches including Face Rock, Coquille Point, Devil's Kitchen and Bandon Wayside. While at the beach people find entertainment by whale watching, beachcombing, surfing, and participating in other recreational activities in the sand. The Coquille River Lighthouse towers over the North Jetty at Bullard's Beach State Park. This is a favorite place to picnic, go camping, or just catch a sunset.

 

Bandon Marsh, located across from the Coquille River, is a spectacular place to pick up a pair of binoculars and admire several species of birds. On the south side of Bandon is Floras Lake. Here typical recreational lake activities take place, but the most popular visitors of this lake are windsurfers.
